Whether it is remodeling your master bathroom or adding an outdoor kitchen on your lanai, your remodeling project has no doubt made you very excited. You just want it to be completed so you can enjoy your dream home! Did you know there are actually a few things you can do ahead of time to make the project go quicker and easier for everyone? After all, if the remodel process goes smoothly, everyone is much happier at the end. Here are a few tips, as told by our remodeling experts:
#1 Pack up the space being remodeled. Go through the room or areas that will be part of the remodel and pack the essentials before the remodeling crew arrives. Let’s say you must go without your kitchen for a few weeks. Keep the things you will still want to be able to access, like your coffee mug and a cereal bowl, in a location you can easily reach and pack up the rest out of the way.
#2 Invest in a few rolling storage carts. This type of cart is lightweight and easy to move, plus it allows you to store items in plain view so you can quickly find what you need without digging blindly through boxes. You could use one for towels and linens, one for kitchen tools and dishes, one for food from the pantry, and another for toiletries or anything else you need on a daily basis but suddenly have nowhere to put. If you get one or a few good-quality pieces, you may just find you decide to keep them after the remodeling project is over. They can actually compliment decor very well!
#3 Plan ahead for your privacy. Beattie Development will send only the most-experienced and customer-focused remodeling crew to your home. However, you may still feel a little uncomfortable in certain situations, like walking around in your pajamas, when they are in your home. If your master bathroom is the project being remodeling and you’ll need to get ready in the guest bathroom for a few mornings, this could pose a problem if you don’t plan ahead. Think about what time you usually shower and get ready for your day- will the crew already be in your house at that time? Move your stuff over before they arrive and it won’t be any different.
#4 Set up a “temporary command center.” Often, people use their kitchen for a lot more than just cooking. If you use your kitchen or dining room space for placing the mail, charging your cell phone, hanging your keys, and keeping any other essential items where you are sure to find them, this can pose a problem. Get your stuff together now and put it all in one place that is well out of the remodeling zone. This way, it won’t be scattered throughout the house.
