Very little in your kitchen will make so big of an impression or add as much value to your home as the actual countertops. For that reason, your choice in countertops is absolutely crucial. That is true whether you are building a brand new home or undergoing a kitchen remodeling project. Yet, the average homeowner knows very little about countertops.
Here at Beattie Development, we always want our clients to be making the most informed decision possible. Only then can we absolutely guarantee that you will love your final product. With that in mind, let’s discuss the two most commonly-used materials for countertops, Granite and Cambria Quartz. Your main decision will be deciding between the two in your kitchen.
How are they similar?
Both offer the look of natural stone and offer a lot benefits for you. You can cut directly on to either of these services, without needing a cutting board. This is very convenient for homeowners who cook often. Both products provide a similar high-end look for your home, and are available in a huge range of both light and dark colors. There are literally hundreds of colors to choose between!
How are they different?
They are not exactly the same, though. Granite is porous and has a more delicate surface that can be susceptible to acidic fruits, meat juices, and chemical-filled cleaners. For this reason, it needs to be periodically resealed. Cambria Quartz countertops require less maintenance and need cleaning with just soap and water. This is because Cambria Quartz is nonporous and nonabsorbent, so its surface is stain resistant and also non-germy. In fact, Cambria Quartz is certified by the NSF International as food-safe. Another difference lies in the price, as most Granite is somewhat less expensive than Cambria Quartz. However, the upper end of premium Granite can actually be more expensive than Cambria Quartz, so it really comes down to the exact product you choose.
Which one is better?
This is a question we cannot actually answer for you. So much of whether you should go with Cambria Quartz or Granite depends upon you! Some people shop for countertops mainly by price, while others have a certain color palette in mind, and others still choose Cambria Quartz for how easy to clean it is. You may have another reason altogether upon which you base your decision.
When looking at either Cambria Quartz or Granite, there is no wrong choice as long as you go with a reputable company who helps you get the countertops you really want.
