We are already halfway through September, which means that Autumn is just around the corner! For many, this is their favorite time of the year. It is easy to see why! Cooler, drier weather is finally on its way. If you love Fall, why not work your love for this season into your home’s decor during a remodel? And no, this doesn’t mean pumpkins and little witches (unless you want that, of course!) Here’s what you’ll want to work into your remodel in order to make your home feel like Fall all year round:
#1 Warm Colors. Autumn feels warm and cozy, and a lot of that has to do with the colors we associate with it. Think of the hues of falling leaves: golds, reds, oranges, and even deep yellows. It’s very simple to work these into any newly-remodeled room, especially a kitchen or bathroom. Consider a rustic red shade on kitchen cabinets, or even a burnt orange color on the bathroom walls. There’s a lot you can do with these hues; the possibilities are practically endless!
#2 A Cozy Faux-Fireplace with Mantle. Despite the fact that we really don’t need fireplaces for warmth here in Southwest Florida, they are becoming a more popular decor choice for homeowners. If your home doesn’t have a chimney, you can get a faux-fireplace that looks like a real fire is lit. Decorate the mantle with a sophisticated wreath, ribbons, vases, and anything else that makes your room feel nice and cozy.
#3 Natural Woods. It’s no secret that you can have genuine wood stained to be in just about any color now. If you are going for a warm, Autumn theme- leave it in its natural state! The nice browns of Cedar, Mahogany, Pecan, Walnut and Oak are perfect for this look. You may want to have hardwood floors in one of these species laid throughout the house, or just accent warm-colored walls with wooden furniture.
#4 Back Patio Decor. Why should your indoor spaces have all the fun? Add a touch of Fall to your outdoor living area by incorporating branches, candles, and other natural elements to the decor. These will be great to create a nice centerpiece for your outdoor table by the pool. Of course, since it is still pretty warm here this time of year, you’ll probably want any flowers, vegetables, or plants to be decorative and not real.
#5 Nature Paintings. If you’re originally from up north, you may miss the changing of the leaves this time of the year. There is no reason you can’t enjoy them here! When your home is being remodeled and you’re looking for design inspiration or working with an interior design specialist, be sure to add a few Fall-themed paintings to the mix. A beautiful work of art, either a real canvas or a print, with look stunning in your living room, against a muted brown or beige-painted wall.
These are just a few ideas to get the wheels in your head turning. Above all, your home should be a reflection of you and what you love. If you love Autumn, use this in your home design choices! And, of course, Beattie Development’s Remodeling Team wants to be with you every step of the way so you can pull this look off perfectly.
